On March 19, the FIDE President visited South Korea. In Seoul, he met with Ms. Hyun In Suk, the President of South Korean Chess Federation and Mr. Song Jinwoo, the Delegate and General Secretary. The both sides discussed the problems of chess development in Seoul, the federation's objectives, and in particular the implementation of Chess in Schools programme in the country.
Ms. Hyun In Suk informed on the efforts made by the Korean Chess Federation to include chess in the demonstration programme of Winter Olympic Games 2018 in Pyeongchang. She also expressed the interest in holding the next World Mind Games in South Korea. It was agreed that a detailed presentation will be prepared for the consideration of potential sponsors. The Youth Mind Games will be held in the suburbs of Seoul in August of this year. The Korean Chess Federation will prepare the invitation for the national chess federations with the information on the tournament.
Also Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with the 17th President of the South Korea Mr. Lee Myung-bak. The Presidents exchanged their opinions on the various foreign policy issues.
