On March 10th, the FIDE President arrived to Iceland for the opening ceremony of Reykjavik Open Chess tournament. It will be held for the 30th time since 1964 from March 10th to March 18th 2015. The tournament is dedicated to the legendary GM Fridrik Olafsson, the 4th FIDE President and honorary member of FIDE.

Reykjavik met the guests with snowy storm; as a result, the visit to the Bobby Fischer’s grave was temporarily postponed as the roads were closed. However, the President of the Icelandic Chess Federation Mr. Gunnar Bjornsson assured that they will certainly pay the visit to Fischer’s grave.
