During September 15-16th a working visit to Porto of Spain, Trinidad was paid by Continental President, Jorge Vega in order to meet Mr. Russell Smith, CCA General Secretary and Mr. Allan Herbert, CCA Treasurer.

The talks, held in a friendly environment, dealt with the future challenges CCA will have in the 2014-18 period, the promoting and developing chess in American Continent specially in the Caribbean and Central America areas and the CCA Calendar.

Also was mentioned the close ties CCA has with the FIDE DEV Commission and the Continental President expressed his satisfaction for the work DEV has done, also he quoted that with the bringing of WGM Martha Fierro into the FIDE Presidential ticket the Woman Chess will have a growing up in America due the cooperation CCA has had with WOM in the past.

Although the following events are not part of CCA official calendar because they are directly funded by FIDE President own pocket the Continental President announced the hold of the UMADA Cup, the Latin Cup and the Bolivarian Championship in Guyana, Argentina and Peru respectively.

The presents noted the need to keep America united as the most powerful bloc in FIDE.

The Continental President announced that his next visit shall be to Brazil to meet GM Darcy Lima, CCA Deputy President, to discuss the same points dealt in Trinidad.

Mr. Smith took the Continental President to a tour to the Trinidad oil processing zone after which the meeting ended with a nice dinner offered by Mr. Herbert.
