Alexander Morozevich and Valentina Gunina are winners of the 68th Moscow Blitz Chess Championship
The Moscow Blitz Chess Championship Finals were held on 6th of September in the open air by the tradition since 1948. The playing venue of this year tournament was the summer ground of the VDNKh cultural centre (All-Russian Exhibition center). The FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and the President of Moscow State University of Civil Engineering (MGSU) Mr. Valery Telichenko were the honorable guests of the tournament. At the opening ceremony, the FIDE President thanked Vladimir Palikhata, President of the Moscow Chess Federation, for keeping the chess traditions and holding this tournament for the 68th time. Valery Telichenko noted that according to the MGSU students’ wishes, who want to develop their chess skills, a special department was established in the university. “We are pleased that this intellectual game is always relevant and certainly we supported the students’ initiative to establish new chess department in our university”, said Valery Telichenko.
