After Puerto Rico, the FIDE President arrived in Jamaica. During his visit, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with the President of the Jamaica Olympic Association Mr. Michael Fennell and the General Secretary Mr. Christopher Samuda. The both sides exchanged their opinions on the world sport movement development and the Olympic perspectives for chess in the framework of the IOC programme on the Games reformation. Mr. Fennell said that the most popular sport in Jamaica is domino. He advised that the attention should be paid to the efforts of creating a unified definition of chess as a sport discipline for international organizations, e.g. for the UN and the UNESCO. The leaders of the Jamaican Olympic Association have promised that the proposal of FIDE will be considered at their Executive board meeting and the decision will be communicated to FIDE.
