On May 24, the FIDE President arrived in Puerto Rico. In San Juan, Mr. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov met with the chess community, answered numerous questions and played a blitz game against the participants of the children’s tournament. FIDE President also met with the Puerto Rico Chess Federation Executive board members. The both sides discussed the perspectives of chess development in the country, implementation of the Chess in schools programme and the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Puerto Rico Chess Federation in November this year. It was noted that there is a great demand for conducting Arbiters’ and Trainers’ seminars including the seminars via internet.
