On April 23 the FIDE delegation left Phnom Penh for Malaysia. In Kuala Lumpur President of FIDE met with Mr. Dato' Sieh Kok Chi, General Secretary of the National Olympic Committee of Malaysia. The leaders had a very interesting and productive conversation on the perspectives of chess inclusion in the Olympic family. Mr. Chi supported FIDE’s initiative regarding Winter Olympic Games and gave an advice to promote chess as a universal sport, which does not depend on weather conditions.

In the cabinet of President of Malaysian NOC we have found two sets of chess! And who can say that chess don’t deserve its place in the Olympic family.

Another productive meeting was held with the leadership of Malaysian Chess Federation and its President Mr. Tan Sri Ramli Ngah Talib. The both sides discussed the chess development in the country. Moreover, they discussed the possibilities for Malaysian students to study at the Russian sports universities, and the collaboration of Malaysian Chess Federation with the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Malaysia. It is remarkable to note the chess club in this centre, where the Russian GM Alexander Fominyh conducts the lectures.

It was also agreed that the Malaysian CF would arrange a working meeting for FIDE President with Minister of Education of Malaysia to discuss the implementation of Chess in Schools programme, and the possible signing of agreement on cooperation between FIDE, Malaysian Chess Federation and the Ministry of Education of Malaysia.
