FIDE President's visit to Georgia |

Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili received representatives of the chess community – President of the International Chess Federation Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and renowned Hungarian chess grandmaster Judit Polgár – at the Georgian Government Building on March 16, 2014.
Sports Minister of Georgia Levan Kipiani, his first deputy Zurab Azmaiparashvili, and President of Georgia’s Chess Federation Georgiy Giorgadze were also at the meeting.
The meeting participants talked about further development of chess in Georgia, also noting the need to preserve the accomplishments of the Georgian Chess School and support chess traditions in the country.
The Fide President and Judit Polgár also met with the famous Georgian Politician Bidzina Ivanishvili on Saturday, March 15. They focused on the prospects of the ancient game in Georgia during that meeting.
