Paraguay Completes Legislation for Chess in Schools |

'I am pleased to announce that today, March 13, 2014 the inclusion of Chess in the school curriculum of Basic and Secondary Education across the country was finally approved in both chambers of our Parliament.' (Victor Oxley, Draft Legislative Counsel)
These matters take time and there is still one more step - the President of Paraguay, Horacio Cartes, must sign the legislation. Hopefully, that will be a formality.
CHRONOLOGY OF THE LAW INTRODUCING SCHOOLS CHESS IN PARAGUAY
25/10/2012: The Honourable House of Representatives of the nation declares interest of education and sports chess (proposed by Rep. Juan Antonio Denis member of the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress of Paraguay).
19/03/2013: The Honourable House of Representatives of the nation approves the bill "to include chess in the school curriculum of basic education and media in the education system of paraguay" (proposed by Rep. Juan Antonio Denis member Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress of Paraguay).
27/06/2013: The Honourable Senate approves the bill "to include chess in the school curriculum of basic education and media in the education system of Paraguay" with amendments.
09/10/2013: The Honourable House of Representatives of the nation rejects the amendment by the Senate (proposed by Rep. Juan Bartolome Ramirez Brizuela Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the National Congress of Paraguay).
03/13/2014: The Honourable Senate approves the bill "to include chess in the curriculum of school education and media in the basic education system of Paraguay" the original text of the Honourable Deputies Chamber.
So, the way is almost clear for the roll-out to begin.
