On March 12, the FIDE President arrived to Khanty-Mansiysk for the opening ceremony of Candidates’ Tournament. Before the official part of the ceremony, President Ilyumzhinov visited the office of Gazpromneft-Khantos, one of the main sponsors of Ugra CF in organizing the FIDE official events. A chess area was opened in the framework of the event “Let’s remove the white spots” by the Ugra CF. This action is aimed at the expanding of chess presence as the most intelligent game in the offices of various organizations such as railway stations, hospitals and so on. At the event also present were Mr. Vasily Filipenko, Head of Khanty-Mansiysk, President of Ugra CF, Mr. Igor Krutko, Deputy Director of Physical Culture and Sports Department of Khanty-Mansiysk autonomous okrug – Ugra, Ms. Galina Kovaleva, Director of Ugra Chess Academy, and the heads of Gazpromneft-Khantos. In the ensuing meeting with Mr. Sergey Doctor, General Director of oil company, the FIDE President thanked for the support and expressed the need in further cooperation.
