fideThe world’s chess elite will move to Rhodes, Greece, for the second part of the month of October. Appropriately nicknamed ‘The island of the Knights’ and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe, the island will host the European Chess Club Cup from 19-27th October.

Euro 2013 is the top club competition for the year, a truly international event with players from all continents. With 95 Grandmasters, 75 International Masters and 43 FIDE Masters in the Open section and 12 Grandmasters, 10 International Masters and 10 Women Grandmasters, the event will have a total of 250(!) titled players.

The drawing of lots for the first round was conducted during the technical meeting with the Chief Organizer Nikos Kalesis and Chief Arbiter Sotiris Logothetis.

SOCAR and Cercle d’Echecs de Monte-Carlo will have white pieces on the top boards in round one.

Team substitutes are being handed every morning between 9:30 and 10:00. Around 10:30 the pairings with exact board order will be published on the official website and in the hotel lobby.

All rounds are starting at 15:00 daily and can be followed on the live page.
