Today, March 6th, in Ulan Ude President Ilyumzhinov met with the Head of the Republic of Buryatia Vyacheslav Nagovitsin. The topic of the meeting was development of chess in Buryatia. A special attention was paid to the chess for kids in the republic and the inclusion of chess in school curriculum. At the meeting present were Vladimir Mathkhanov, Deputy Chairman of Parliament of Buryatia, Aldar Damdinov, Minister of Education and Science of Buryatia and the FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.

On March 5th FIDE President arrived on a working visit to Buryatia, in Ulan Ude he participated in a session of the People’s Khural (Parliament) of the Republic of Buryatia devoted to the “CIS programme in the Republic of Buryatia”. The participants of the session were the Deputies of the People’s Khural of Buryatia, Government members, Heads of ministries and agencies, managers and representatives of municipal educational administrations, representatives of non-government and scientific organizations and citizens.

The presiding officer was Vyacheslav Irildeev, Chairman of the Committee of the People's Khural of the Republic of Buryatia on Economic Policy, Natural Resources Utilization and Environmental Protection. Welcoming speeches were also delivered by Vladimir Matkhanov, Deputy Chairman of the parliament on Social Policy, and by FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov. The reports were presented by Alexander Bocheev, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Buryatia, Amir Gilyazov, Director of the “Vertical” chess club, Zhambal-Zhamso Zhanaev, Head of Education administration of Kurumkansky district of Buryatia and Timur Ivanov, Executive Director of chess federation of Buryatia.

The Honorary guest of the round circle was Hambo Lama, head of the Buddhist congregation of Russia, head of Ivolginsky Datsan. After the session in the parliament the FIDE President visited Datsan and met with the participants of the 11th traditional chess tournament under the auspices of Hambo Lama Ayusheev.
