FIDE President at "Maribor for Peace" Print

Today the FIDE President arrived in Maribor at the invitation of the Mayor, Mr. Franc Kangler, to attend the two-day event "Maribor for Peace", meeting of Nobel Prize laureates. The event will be held on 16-17th of May in the Grand Hall of the Slovenian National Theatre Maribor.
The meeting was attended by His Holiness Dalai Lama the 14th, Prof. Muhammad Yunus, Bangladeshi economist and founder of the Grameen Bank, an institution that provides microcredit, Dr. Rigoberta Menchu Tum, Guatemalan tireless fighter for human rights, and Dr. Lucka Kajfez Bogataj, climatologist, Slovenian climate change ambassador and 2007 Nobel Prize co-winner. Mr. Kirsan Ilyumzhinov attended the lectures of HH Dalai Lama the 14th as well as lunch and meeting with him.

The issues on preparations for World Youth Championships which will be held in Maribor on the 7-9th of November were discussed at the meeting with Mayor of Maribor, Mr. Franc Kangler.
