Visit to Kazakhstan Print

On 15 March the FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov arrived on an official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan. In Ust-Kamenogorsk he had a working meeting with Berdibek Saparbaev, the Akim of East Kazakhstan province. It was agreed that starting from the next year chess will become a compulsory subject in all the schools of the akimat. And as a result of the meeting an agreement on chess development was signed by the Parties.

After the meeting Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and Berdibek Saparbaev visited the place of construction of a Chess Palace in Ust-Kamenogorsk.

Later they visited the East Kazakhstan State Technical University named after Daulet Serikbaev where the FIDE President met with the students of the institutes of higher education of the akimat. During the meeting Kirsan Ilyumzhinov spoke about chess development in the Republic of Kalmykia and all over the world, in particular he told about "Chess in schools" programme and the main trends of modern chess life.

Then a press-conference of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov with mass media of Kazakhstan took place.

Also the FIDE President was invited to the ethnographic village and to Kazakhstan Car Assembly Plant "Asia Auto".
