Yifan and Vachier Lagrave are the winners of blitz competition

How Yifan from China became the gold medalist of the blitz competition of the SportAccord World Mind Games. Her perfomance was brilliant: the World Champion scored 11,5 points out of 15, winning 9 games and losing just one - in the last round when she had an unassailable lead.

We are happy for the former World Champion Antoaneta Stefanova from Bulgaria, who had a strong finish, scoring 4,5 points in the last 5 rounds and finally reached second place in this prestigious competition with a total of 9,5 points.

In the 3rd place was Anna Muzychuk from Slovenia with the same score but less wins than Stefanova. "The competition was brilliant", - according to SportAccord President Hein Verbruggen, who visited the competition on the second day. - "It is a great spectacle".

The French Maxime Vachier Lagrave gained the Gold Medal of Men's Blitz tournament. He scored 12 points out of 16 games and had 1.5 points advantage. The first day Maxime got 5.5 points out of 8 games, today he's performance is perfect - 6.5 points out of 7 games.

Russian Alexander Grischuk stands in the 2nd place with 10.5 points.

Azerbaijan Shahriyar Mamedyarov, who was the sole leader of first day, didn't play good today and end the blitz tournament in the 3rd place with 10 points.

- Thank you for congratulations, - sais Maxim. - You have no idea how tired I am right now! The fact is that, I usually play blitz events on a good level. For example, I won the European Blitz Championship. But blitz events always demand a lot of energy. You need to have maximum concentration and every time its a new situation. So now I feel just that I want to go to sleep - as soon as possible. (Maxim smiled) Of course, later I will feel happy.
