From 4th to 5th November 2011 the FIDE President has had a working visit to Lima, Peru where he had a meeting with the Mayor of Lima Mrs. Vilaran de la Puente. At the meeting an agreement on the implementation of chess in schools programme with Lima region administration, El Agustino and Brena districts was signed. Also, the FIDE President held discussions with the Director of the National Institute of Sports Department, Mr. Akio Tamashiro, who he informed about the FIDE's position regarding the Peru Chess Federation. President Ilyumzhinov also visited a Trainers' Seminar held during these days under the direction of Martha Fierro. The seminar was also attended by the Continental President for Americas Mr. Jorge Vega and the President of Peruvian Chess Federation Mr. Iturry Milton.
In Lima the FIDE President gave an interview to TV and radio station RPP. He also met with the adminitration of El Agustino district municipality, Mr. Victor Salsedo, who actively supports chess movement, and with young chess players who have achieved successful results in various continental championships. A trilateral agreement on cooperation was signed between FIDE, the Peruvian Chess Federation and the El Agustino district municipality.
