Request of Paraguay to include chess to the Olympic Games Programme

The FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov continues his working visit to Asuncion, Paraguay.
There he met the chess players of Paraguay. One of them is Guillermo Vazquez Colman, he is two-folded Champion of the country although he is only 14 years old and has been playing chess only for four years! The FIDE President handed him the FIDE Master Certificate and invited to participate in the Moscow Open tournament as well as to be trained by the Russian chess specialists.
Then Kirsan Ilyumzhinov visited one of the gymnasiums of Asuncion where 800 students have got chess lessons. FIDE President played chess with one of the strongest chess players of the gymnasium and ... lost the game!
Later the President had a working meeting in the National Olympic Committee of Paraguay. Mr. Camilo Perez Lopez Moreira, President of Paraguayan NOC has signed a letter to Mr. Rogge with a request to change the Charter of the International Olympic Committee and to include chess to the Winter Olympic Games Programme.
An agreement between FIDE, Paraguay Chess Federation and Ministry of Education and Culture of Paraguay has been signed during the visit of the FIDE President to this country. President of Paraguayan chess federation and Vice Minister of Education Development of Paraguay were present at the meeting.
