On 9 June Sergey Naryshkin, Head of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, presented FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov with an Order of "Merit for the Fatherland" IV degree. The Order was given on the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev in Kremlin.

Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has been given this prestigious award for his continued diligent work by a decree "Award of the Order of "Merit for the Fatherland" IV degree to K.N. Ilyumzhinov"(Moscow, Kremlin, 17 March 2011, N 318) signed by the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev.
