World Youth Chess Championships continue in the 5-star sunny resort of Porto Carras, Greece. After the rest day, the players came back full with energy and desire to fight over the board, which produced one of the most interesting rounds so far.

The Armenian U18 talent GM Samvel Ter-Sahakyan increased his lead after winning his R7 game. The draw between FM Steven C Zierk and IM Rosell Alvar Alonso left Ter-Sahakyan a full point ahead of competition with 6,5/7.

In the U18 Girls section the top rated WGM Deysi Cori is still adjusting to the strong opposition, this time she was defeated by WIM Narmin Nizami Kazimova, who is the new leader of the section with 6,5/7 and a full point over WIM Bulmaga, WIM Vo Thi Kim Phung, and local star Zoi Iordanidou.

Tomas Laurusas 2291 (LTU, Open U14) and unrated Lei Tingjie (CHN, Girls U14) are the surprising leaders in their respective tournaments. Despite being far from top seeded, they are dominating their groups and continue with full 7,0/7 points.



The most disputed sections after seven rounds are Girls U16, where WIM Nastassia Ziaziulkina BLR and WIM Nguyen Thi Mai Hung VIE are joint leaders with 6,0/7, and Girls U12 where we have triumvirate – Iulija Osmak UKR, WFM Li Zhuoling CHN, and WFM Anna Vasenina, all with 6,0/7.

Other section leaders are Kirill Shevchenko UKR (Open U8), Li Yunshan CHN (Girls U8), Jason Cao CAN (Open U10), Alexandra Obolentseva RUS (Girls U10), Troff Kayden USA (Open U12), FM Kamil Dragun POL (Open U16), all with 6,5/7.
