On the 15th of July visiting the countries of South America and the Caribbean, FIDE President, Head of Republic of Kalmykia Kirsan Ilyumzhinov arrived to Havana. FIDE President met with the President of Cuban Chess Federation Mr. Silvino GARCIA MARTINEZ, the Head of National Chess Commission Mr. Osvaldo GARCIA CONTRERAS and the President of National Institute of Sports Mr. Alfredo Casania MENES to discuss the issues of chess development.

On June 20th, 2010 Kirsan Ilyumzhinov has already visited CUBA on June 20th, 2010 when he announced a US 500, 000 five-year prize fund from his personal funds for two new tournaments in the FIDE Calendar - Caribbean Cup and Latin America Cup. The full article you can read here.

On July, 10th 2010 FIDE President visited PERU.
