The European Club Cup starts today at 14:30 local time (13:30 CET). 50 games will be broadcast at the live games page at http://ecc2008.chessdom.com/european-club-cup-round1-live/. The results from the other games will be updated every 30 minutes (open section and women section).
Today at 10:30 AM the press conference took place at the 5 star Theophano Imperial Palace. The ECU President Boris Kutin, the tournament manager Theodoros Tsorbatzoglou, and GM Teimour Radjabov were invited.
“This is the 8th time ECC is held in Greece, and this year, now officially we have 64 men teams and 18 women teams are here in Halkidiki, about 600 players”, were the opening words of Mr. Theodoros Tsorbatzoglou.
Before this the captains meeting was held on 16th of October in the Athos Palace playing hall. The captains of 82 teams (64 men and 18 women) were present at the meeting. FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov sent a greeting letter to all participants and guests of the European Club Cup 2008.
