![]() On behalf of the Organising Committee, I thank all the Federations which have registered their participation. The relevant authorities are working on the official documents to facilitate the visas. Unfortunately this will take a little longer than expected as most Federations did not provide complete details as required. I encourage those Federations where there is a Vietnam Embassy to proceed to apply for visas there so as to avoid congestion at the Airport immigration. The Opening Ceremony will be officially graced by the highest government leaders. Provincial leaders all over Vietnam have also been invited. Other than the SEA (SouthEast Asian) Games in 2003, the World Youth Chess Championships is the biggest sport event ever held in Vietnam.
The Social Talent Nite scheduled on the eve of the Free Day is an opportunity for participants to show off their talent outside the chessboard. Federations may nominate their player(s) to perform - song (any language) or dance (national dress will be most appealing).
Please bring along your music CD/Tape. A total Prize Fund of US$8,000 will be awarded to the top 10 performers; the best performance will receive US$2,000. Each Federation may nominate only ONE performance - registration by email should reach us at emails This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
