On 21st of April 2008 General Secretary of Moldavian Chess Federation Feodor Skripchenko and Chief Manager of the web-site of the Moldavian Chess Federation, Grandmaster Elena Pyrtsak had an official visit to the President of Academy of Sciences of Moldova Georgy Duka. During the meeting they widely discussed the question of introducing chess into the general education system in Moldova. Mr. Duka expressed his opinion on this question – he thinks that introducing chess into school program, especially in elementary school will positively reflect on complex development of the growing up generation of Moldova and on improving school results of pupils.

The President of Academy of Sciences underlined that chess is already included in school curriculum of many countries of the world, and the scientists proved in practice that children who play chess improved their school results, especially in mathematics. Mr. Duka noted that chess develops children's logical and analytical thinking, and moreover ability to make their own decisions. His opinion coincides with the opinions of the scientists from all over the world. He is also sure that the Government of Moldova will support an offer of the International Chess Federation to include chess to the curriculum of elementary schools like in many countries of the world, especially in Spain and in Lima, Peru, where almost in every school children are taught to play chess.

After the interesting conversation Feodor Skripchenko has presented the library of Academy of Sciences with 4 books about chess, written by him: "Elmira conquers chess Olympus", "Chess style of Elmira", "Chess pride of Moldova" and "For you, parents".

The President of the Academy thanked the author of the books for such an excellent gift and said that these books would not only be read by the scientists, but also they would help to improve their chess skills as there are no scientists in the Academy who don’t play chess. In conclusion Georgy Duka asked the General Secretary of Moldavian Chess Federation Feodor Skripchenko to inform the rector of the International University ULIM, academician Andrey Galbin, that they would be defeated if they don't nominate their combined team of ULIM teachers for the match with the team of Academy of Sciences till May, 10th.

Feodor Skripchenko promised to inform Mr. Galbin who by the way is CM rated, immediately, and that he will do his best to hold the match on schedule.
