Tiviakov and Lahno, new European Champions Print

European Individual Chess Championship for men and women took place in Plovdiv, Bulgaria from 20 April to 5 May 2008. There were 337 players in 9th European Individual Men’s Championship while 159 players were participating in 8th European Individual Women’s Chess Championship. In men's section Tiviakov was the only winner among the leaders in the final round and won the European Championship. In women's championship Kateryna Lahno of Ukraine won the European title after drawing against her compatriot Ushenina.
