FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov participated in a meeting of Ministers of
Sports and Presidents of NOC On March 17, 2008, FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov participated in a meeting
of Ministers of Sports and Presidents of the National Olympic Committees of EU
countries in Brdo, Slovenia. The subject of the meeting was ``Social
significance of sport and dialogue in sport``. The Chairman of the meeting was
the Commissioner for Sports in EU Jan Figel. By special invitation of the
organizers of the meeting FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov made a speech on the
role of chess in the world today. The 12 Champion of the World, FIDE Delegate to
the International Olympic Committee, Grandmaster Anatoly Karpov shared his own
sport experience afterwards.

During his visit to Slovenia,
FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov had a meeting with the Mayor of Ljubljana
Zoran Jankovic, President of National Olympic Committee of Slovenia Dr. Janez
Kocijancic and Minister of Education and Sport Milan Zver on 18 March 2008. Also
FIDE President visited the Chess Federation of Slovenia.
On 19-20 March, 2008, FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov holds the meeting of the
FIDE Presidential Board in Istanbul, Turkey. The organizational questions of the
upcoming World Chess Championship Match Anand-Kramnik, the Final Challengers
Match Topalov-Kamsky and the preparations for the World Chess Olympiad in
Dresden are to be considered during the meeting
