FIDE President attended the Closing Ceremony of Moscow Open 2008 FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov attended the Closing Ceremony
of Moscow Open 2008. The FIDE President congratulated the participants on the
ending of the tournament and thanked the organizers of the festival. The
tournament took place in Moscow on February 2-10, 2008, Russian State Social
University was the venue of the event.
Moscow Open is one of the biggest
tournaments in the world. The record number of 1250 participants from more than
37 countries of the world took part in the event this year. The Festival
consisted of four tournaments: Open A, Tournament B, the women`s Open C and a
Children`s Tournament D.
FIDE Vice President Andrei Selivanov, President
of Moscow Chess Federation Vyacheslav Beresnev, the rector of the Russian State
Social University Vasily Zhukov and the Head of the Department of Physical
Culture and Sport of the Government of Moscow Mikhail Stepanyan were present at
the Closing Ceremony of Moscow Open 2008.
