The World Chess Federation visits Dresden During a working meeting on 28 February 2008 in Dresden, FIDE
and the Organizers of the Dresden Olympiad discussed various points concerning
the organization of the forthcoming Chess Olympiad in November 2008.
FIDE was represented by its Executive Director David Jarrett and by its
Commercial Director, Geoffrey Borg. The Dresden Organizers were represented by
Chairman Dr Dirk Jordan, Managing Director Jorn-Torsten Verleger and Marketing
Director Volker Bernardi. Horst Metzing represented the German Chess Federation.
``FIDE is pleased with the status of the preparations shown concerning
the Chess Olympiad organization and hosting in Dresden``, stated David Jarrett
on behalf of FIDE. ``Everything is on track for a successful Olympiad in
November``.
``In the framework of the Master Plan many points were
discussed concerning the Logistics and Operations during the Olympiad such as
transportation, registration and accreditation, Visa procedures, accommodation
for players, officials, arbiters and guests``, said Managing Director
Jorn-Torsten Verleger. ``We are sure that everybody travelling to Dresden to
attend the Chess Olympiad in any function whatsoever will find best conditions
in Germany``.
FIDE and the Organizers will continue working together
with regular consultations, visits and close co-operation in the preparations
for the Chess Olympiad.
