The Planning and Development Commission (PDC) held its meeting at Maison de Tunisie at Cite Universitaire in Paris (France), on August 5-6, 2019.
FIDE Deputy President Bachar Kouatly acted as a host and welcomed the team on the first day and made a brief presentation on the activities of the French Chess Federation.
FIDE President, Arkady Dvorkovich, also addressed the team remotely and expressed gratitude for the work being done as well as proposed areas of focus. Executive Director Victor Bologan actively participated in discussions to ensure continued alignment with FIDE priorities.
The PDC members present were Sonja Johnson (Secretary), Tshepiso Lopang (Councillor), Danara Shovunova, Theodoros Tsorbatzoglou, Majlinda Pilinci and Carolina Muñoz Solis. Fidel Gonzalez (Councillor) participated remotely.
The team reviewed the activities of the Commission to date, proposed other projects as well as designed a work programme which will guide its activities for the rest of 2019.
The upcoming priorities for the PDC include:
-- Increased engagement and coordination with other Commissions
-- Proposed Capacity Building Programmes for FIDE and its various arms.
-- Website additions.
-- Design of online review and approval system for funding requests.
