FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich, Executive Director Victor Bologan, and the councillor for chess in education Leontxo Garcia continue their Latin America tour visiting Chile.
Together with Damaris Abarca, the President of the Chile Chess Federation, the FIDE representatives met the Departmental Director of the Chilean Ministry of Sports, Claudio Basualto, to discuss the development of chess in the country and the required steps to allow chess to regain the status of member of the Chilean Olympic Committee.
Chess in schools and the benefits of chess in education were discussed at the meeting with the General Director for Education at the Ministry of Education ( MINEDUC), Raimundo Larrain.
FIDE representatives also met Congresswoman Camila Rojas, who expressed her will to support chess.
Previously, the FIDE party had visited the installations of "Chile Chess Club", and took part in the prize-giving ceremony of the tournament that was being held during their visit. Besides, a cooperation agreement was signed between FIDE and the Chilean Chess Federation.
