The Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) started today, with chess being part of it. The participants of the forum got a unique chance to play against former World Champion Vladimir Kramnik or try their skills against each other on-site today.
GM Vladimir Kramnik and FIDE President Arkady Dvorkovich played a game during the chess tournament with the participation of Russian politicians.
In the evening of June 6, a chess fest will be held in the very centre of the city in the Catherine Garden (known as "Катькин сад" to the locals). Former world champion GM Vladimir Kramnik will meet with the chess fans, and the king of blindfold play GM Timur Gareev will give a simul.
This event is organized by FIDE with the support from the St. Petersburg municipality and chess federation of the city.
All this was followed by the conference "Sports for Everyone: Global Trends and Entrepreneurial Approach", with the following participants:

Chess program at SPIEF continues as GM Timur Gareev plays against famous Russian entrepreneur and banker Oleg Tinkov at Tinkof Bank venue.
