Arkady Dvorkovich traveled to Singapore on May 4. He visited the Singapore Chess Federation office and the Intellectual Games Centre. At the meeting with the board members of the Singapore Chess Federation the development of chess on the island was discussed. FIDE President observed training classes and met with the young players.
On the 5th of May, Arkady Dvorkovich traveled to Australia to attend the Sport Accord, the world sport and business summit. He had a productive meeting with the representatives of IOC: Irina Gladkikh (Associate Director for Winter and Recognized Sports and IF Relations), Andrew Hofer (Recognized Federations and Organizations Senior Manager), and John Palfrey (Director Stakeholder Relations Olympic Channel). They discussed the 100 years anniversary of FIDE (Paris, 2024), continental games, FIDE office relocation to Lausanne, training courses by IOC, fair-play measures in chess, and chess in schools programs.
SportAccord is the world sport and business summit. It is focused on driving positive change internationally and dedicated to engaging and connecting; international federations, rights holders, organizing committees, cities, press and media, businesses and other organizations involved in sports development. The event will last until the 10th of May, combining an exhibition area, a themed conference programme and a multitude of networking events.
Arkady Dvorkovich also took the chance to visit the "City of Melbourne Open Tournament" that is taking place these days, where he met with Simon Dale and Alexei Khamatgaleev, President and Vice President of the Melbourne Chess Club.
