The 2018 1st Quarter Presidential Board has started under the auspices of the Belarus Chess Federation in the Marriott Hotel in Minsk, Belarus on 7th of April 2018.
The meeting was opened by Anastasia Sorokina, the Head of the Belarus Chess Federation, who welcomed the PB members. She stressed how chess is very important to her country and that the Belarus Government is happy that the Presidential Board is taking place in Minsk.

The PB received a proposal from Belarus to hold the 2022 World Chess Olympiad in Minsk
The PB members visited the possible venue for the Olympiad “Minsk Arena”.
After the inspection the members of the Presidential Board had an official meeting with Sergey Mikhailovich Kovalchuk, the Minister of Sport and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus, Andrei Victorovich Shorets, the Chairman of Minsk City Executive Committee, Anastasia Sorokina, the Head of the Belarus Chess Federation and other officials in the Minsk City Hall.
Sergey Mikhailovich Kovalchuk, the Minister of Sport and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus, gave an envelope with a bid to hold the 2022 Olympiad in Minsk to FIDE Deputy President Georgios Makropoulos.
The day before the start of the Presidential Board FIDE Deputy President Georgios Makropoulos met with the First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Belarus Maxim Ryzhenkov.
"Mr. Ryzhenkov assured that Belarus is very interested in holding the Chess Olympiad in 2022. We've checked the infrastructure and should admit that if the decision is made to hold the tournament in Minsk, the International Federation will give its full support," the Deputy President Georgios Makropoulos said.
The decision on the host of the 45th World Chess Olympiad in 2022 will be taken during the 43rd Olympiad, which will be held in Batumi from September 23 to October 7, 2018.
