With great sadness the FIDE Arbiters' Commission was informed that IA Dr. Dirk De Ridder passed away on 7 January 2018.
The Commission expresses its sincere condolences to his family and to the Belgian Chess Federation.
Dirk was a well known International Arbiter, International Organizer and FIDE Lecturer.
He was very enthusiastic and dedicated to chess for more than 30 years, having organized many tournaments and conducted many Arbiters' Seminars.
For many years he was a Chairman of Titles & Ratings Committee, Secretary of the FIDE Arbiters' Commission and Councilor of the FIDE Rules, Qualification and Technical Commissions.
His contribution to the Chess community was very important.
Rest in Peace Dirk!
