1st World Cadets Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships 2017
The 1st FIDE World Cadets Rapid & Blitz Championships among boys and girls under 8, 10 and 12 years old took place in Minsk, Belarus from 2nd to 5th of June. The championships were held in Palace of Sport in the same venue as the European Individual Chess Championship 2017. 626 young chess players from 24 countries took part in the 1st World Cadets Rapid Championship.
On June 4, the World Cadets Blitz Chess Championship among boys and girls under 8, 10 and 12 years old took place in Minsk. 532 young chess players from 25 countries were fighting to win trophies and medals.

FIDE World Team Chess Championship and Women's World Team Championship
The FIDE World Team Championships 2017 was held in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia from 17 June (round 1) to 26 June (round 9). The FIDE World Team Championship is the top Tournament for National Teams in non-Olympiad years and has been conducted since 1985. The FIDE World Team Championship for Women started being held in 2007.
10 teams competed both in the open and women's sections. China and Russia became the winners of the World Team Championships!

World Junior Chess Championship for the Disabled took place in Orlando, Florida, USA from 22 till 29 June 2017.
In the first edition of this World Junior Chess Championship for the Disabled; eight (8) players from seven (7) countries participated in a 7 round robin tournament. Side events included an International Open Tournament, which was held in the same playing hall to promote inclusion and a master training chess camp.
Raphael Johannes Zimmer (Germany) won the 1st FIDE World Junior Chess Championship for the Disabled with a perfect score of 7/7 points.

European Individual Chess Championship 2017 took place in Minsk, Belarus from 29 of May till 11 of June 2017.
Maxim Matlakov (Russia), Baadur Jobava (Georgia), and Vladimir Fedoseev (Russia) scored 8.5 points out of 11. Due to his superior tie-break Maxim Matlakov became the new European Champion, Baadur Jobava is second, while Vladimir Fedoseev is third.
According to FIDE regulations, 22 best players, have qualified for the next World Cup.

European Amateur Chess Championship 2017 was organized in Nis, Serbia from 9 to 17 of June 2017. The organizers of the event were City of Nis Chess Federation in association with Serbia Chess Federation under the auspices of the European Chess Union.
108 players from 18 federations took part in the tournaments.

European Schools Championship and European Youth Rapid and Blitz Championship were organized in Budva, Montenegro from 10 to 23 of June 2017 by Montenegro Chess Federation under the auspices of European Chess Union.
343 players from over 20 European federations took part in the European School Chess Championship, which was divided in 6 age categories open and girls: U7, U9, U11, U13, U15 and U17.
Almost 300 young players from more than 20 European countries took part in the 17th European Youth Rapid & Blitz U-8,10,12,14,16,18 Championships.

Final standings
American Continental, Classical, Rapid and Blitz Championships 2017 took place in Medellin, Colombia from 9th to 19th of June 2017. The Absolute Continental Championship is organized by the Colombian Federation of Chess - FECODAZ - and the Chess League of Antioquia.
A very strong event gathered 256 players from 19 federations, including 29 GMs, 42 IM. The first four players qualified for the FIDE World Cup, including Samuel Sevian (USA), Jorge Cori (PER), Ramirez Neuris Delgado (PAR) and Axel Bachmann (PAR).
Final standings
Asian Zonal 3.4 Championship was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from 15 till 25 of June 2017.
Vakhidov Jahongir (Uzbekistan) and Danara Saduakassova (Kazakhstan) became the winners of the championships and guaranteed their places in the World Cup and Women`s World Chess Championship accordingly.

Eastern Asia Youth Chess Championship 2017 and Eastern Asia Youth Blitz and Rapid Chess Championships took place in Ulanbaatar, Mongolia from 17 to 26 of June 2017.
The East Asian Youth Chess Championship is only for member federations of zone 3.3 and China. After 1 week of hard fought battles on the chess boards, the winners were declared.

GM Solomon Kenny and WGM Sabure Tuduetso became the winners of the Open and Women`s Championships in Zambia. According to FIDE regulations they have a right to play in the World Cup and Women`s World Chess Championship accordingly.
