The 1st World Cadets Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships finished in Minsk, Belarus

On June 4, the World Cadets Blitz Chess Championship among boys and girls under 8, 10 and 12 years old took place in Minsk, Belarus. 532 young chess players from 25 countries were fighting to win trophies and medals.

All children received certificates of the participation in the 1st World Cadets Rapid and Blitz Championships.

World Cadets Rapid and Blitz Championships day 2

The 1st FIDE World Cadets Rapid and Blitz Championships among boys and girls under 8, 10 and 12 years are under way in Minsk, Belarus from 2nd till 4th of June.

The 1st World Cadets Rapid Chess Championship finished in Minsk on 3rd of June and we have the names of the winners and medalists.

On June 4, Minsk will host the first World Cadets Blitz Chess Championship among boys and girls under 8, 10 and 12 years old. The awarding ceremony will take place at 5 pm after the end of the World Blitz Championship.

The championships are held in Palace of Sport in Minsk, Belarus in the same venue as the European Individual Chess Championship 2017. 626 young chess players from 24 countries are taking part in the event. 4 rounds of the rapid Championship were played on June 2, the rest 5 rounds are scheduled on June 3. The blitz championship will take place on June 4.

First Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Maxim Ryzhenkov, Deputy Minister of Sports and Tourism of the Republic of Belarus Vyacheslav Durnov, and the FIDE Vice-President, President of the Spanish Chess Federation Javier Ochoa greeted the guests and participants at the opening ceremony, which took place just before the start of the first round.

As in all the world championships for cadet and youth we are aware that among you there are the best world chess players of the near future and we are proud of giving you this opportunity to show your chess skills and to improve.

For most of you it's the first world chess championship that you play and also the first time that you are travelling to another country. I wish you all to have a great experience here in Minsk.”
