Evgeny Bareev

Evgeny Bareev won the 2019 Canadian Zonal tournament (American Zone 2.2) with 7,5 out of 9, one point ahead of the nearest rival. He also qualified to the 2019 FIDE World Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk.

Bareev had a shaky start, losing against CM Joshua Doknjas (2203). However, it didn't stop this experienced Grandmaster from climbing to the top after he won seven consecutive games and drew against Aman Hambleton to secure his victory. GM Aman Hambleton and IM Nikolai Noritsin tied for the second place with 6,5 out 9.

The 9-round Swiss tournament was held in Kingston, Ontario from April, 18th till 22nd.
