Visit of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov to Kiev Print

The president of FIDE Kirsan Ilyumzhinov visited Kiev on June, 24th where he had a meeting with the mayor of the Ukrainian capital Leonid Chernovetskiy. The parties discussed questions of potential cooperation. The mayor of Kiev expressed readiness of the Ukrainian party in carrying out of the important chess competitions under the aegis of FIDE: one of stages of Women Grand Prix in 2009 and Grand Prix in 2010. Mr. Chernovetsky supported the initiative of the FIDE President to introduce chess at schools of Kiev. The mayor of Kiev also expressed interest in realization of the project of building of the chess centre in the Ukrainian capital.


The press conference of Kirsan Ilyumzhinov took place in the Ukrainian national news agency. After the conferece Kirsan Ilyumzhinov awarded the winners of the chess competition held by the newspaper "Novaya" under patronage of the President of FIDE.
